Like many of the listed cottages in the street the original dwelling included a series of unplanned rear additions without consistency of form or zoning. The challenge was to create an informal living zone that suited the needs of a young family without increasing the footprint of the building.

Several detail challenges presented mostly related to the integration of existing original features including ceilings and detail elements, with a brief to create a comfortable yet contemporary aesthetic for the new works.

The result is an improved living environment relying on a muted monochrome palette. This allows existing textures and details to remain legible whilst better reflecting the needs of its users in a simple yet striking mix of finishes.

  • We are absolutely loving the house, no regrets on anything. We ended up finishing on time, on budget.
